Secret Knitting
Arachne [22]
Rating:

Exactly what it says on the tin. The hostess knits a fairly complex pattern for fifteen minutes, reciting each stitch as she makes it. Her voice is soft and even, very restful to listen to, but knitting lace this way is sure to be a challenge - no chart to refer to if you lose your place. You can hear the needles clicking in the background, which is actually very nice. It makes you feel like you're knitting with a friend.

This has to be my all time favourite horror podcast, though at times the quality of the readings can let down what is a really good story, also some of the mistakes in pronouncing certain words leaves me wondering if that person is quite ready to be let loose on the listening public! All that said, I always look forward to the next episode.

The Preterist Podcast ~ 100% Heresy Free!
Spiritus Naturae [1]
Rating:

I'm biased, no doubt. I'm a partial (orthodox) Preterist having been exposed to that school of thought thanks to one Dee Dee Warren of Xena, err...TheologyWeb fame. I enjoy the humour immensely as well as the more substantive points made regarding eschatology. I even find myself air drumming (air guitar is so passe) to the bumper music and that's a good thing. I have no iPod. I have not succumb to the svengali like sway of Apple, Inc. I am a Zune owner; one of only 12 on the planet. 12 apostles, 12 Zune owners...not mere coincidence. Podcast Pickle seems to be working quite nicely with my Zune. Anyway, thanks Dee Dee for a great podcast! Don't stop now, keep on keepin' on! And remember, in case of Rapture this review will be reviewerless.Aaaaammeeeeennnnn

The Fox - A free audiobook by Arlene Radasky
lorindoll [2]
Rating:

The Fox is a moving story of love and history, a journey worth stepping into. It takes you on a journey through the past and present- linking those words together. This tale takes your breath away and pulls on your heart strings. It is full of treasures about life that will leave a mark on your heart to take with you as you live. Tears fell from my eyes as I listened to this story, but my heart soared with hope in those moments with how strong human courage can be. The characters are strong brave people who teach you lessons of strength, love, and belief in faith and yourself. If this podcast were in book form my papers would be filled with highlighted sections of gems of words to carry with me where I go. My journey with this book has not come to an end, and each time an episode ends I cannot wait till the next one comes out. I can not wait to find out what will happen to these characters who have captured my heart. Please take a moment to download the first episode of this story and give it a chance. I do not think you will be disappointed. PS- Check out the music by Steve McDonald at the end of the espoides as well, it is great, and adds an extra level of emotion to the story, I have bought one of the singers CD’s and I have not been disappointed with it- the music is a mix of wonderful harmony, good music, and a sense of peace within the soul.

The GodBox Café is an fabulous podcast. The content is varied, the guests are fascinating and you’ll not likely find shows like these elsewhere on the web. I am thrilled to have access to the GodBox Café. Tamurile, the podhost, is a sensitive, marvellous interviewer. With insightful comments she expertly draws her guests to share their experiences and information. It’s definitely an interesting and comfy place to be for the listener. The show’s motto, “Where the Earth meets the Sky” aptly sums up the effort made to solidly ground otherworldly topics in current research. And the broad range of topics is reflected in the image on the homepage: a man speaks on a cell phone, seemingly arguing, while behind him golden angels try to get his attention for something we know must be important. The pull between the mundane, material aspects of our lives that are juxtaposed with our aspirations to something greater is something we can all identify with, and those angels are given a huge helping hand by this podcast. There are Mystical musings –Tamurile’s ingenious and artful montage of music and literature around interesting themes– there’s Science and Spirituality –juicy stuff for those looking for new information to fuel a paradigm shift– and Art and Authors --truly a treat to hear how an author or artist came to create her work. All are informative, empowering and liberating; each one a jewel in the hand, bringing another piece to the puzzle and opening up a much-needed space for a new way of thinking.

I put off listening to this for the longest time, but I'm so glad I finally got around to it. These three are so reassuring for old-school fans ... and while I could name off all the silly reviews they've done, I'd like to offer up their review of 'Do You Remember Love?' as the best example of their work. They have a true love for the history of the art form, and manage to keep a sense of humour about it as a whole. I recommend this to anyone who feels out of place in modern fandom. It'll make you feel better.

A WINDOW TO THE MAGIC: DISNEY AUDIO ADVENTURE SHOW
SciionUnderground [2]
Rating:

What makes Paul Barrie's Window to the Magic Podcast so unique is his binaural recordings of the parks and attractions within the Disney empire. Even though I live very close to Disneyland, I don't have the opportunity to go as often as I used to or would like. This podcast definitely fills that void. The seasoned Disneyland visitor will be able to recreate the park in their minds as the music and atmosphere changes. Patrick Hurd's shows are a treat as well. His vast collection of long gone Disney audio and his knack for Disney trivia provide lots of information that even the most hardcore Disney fan might not be aware of! All in all, it's definitely my favorite Disneyland podcast. Two enthusiastic Mickey thumbs WAY UP!

Phil Rossi's Notes from the Vault (Current podcast)
Ebbonified [1]
Rating:

Phil weaves a tale of darkness with a spacy backdrop. Creepy scenes with death and their mystical causes keep every episode satisfied with its share of suspense and wonder. Kendall is well portrayed as an archetype villain complete with vice and a penchant for causing the suffering of others. Gerard (sp?), is well put for the center of the story with his sensible reactions and stable mindset, however, the 3rd person narration transfers well for the other good characters. The author's style of reading leaves me a bit numb, however. The pace seems slow and stilted. Annunciative style is a plus, but each line is read as if it were a movie trailer introduction. I loved the sound effects, as they were ample and appropriate. Not quite hard science fiction, but thoroughly entertaining.
